Responsibility details are not available.
The M110 was an American large-caliber self-propelled howitzer built on a tracked chassis. The gun barrel of 203 mm caliber, that is, eight inches, sits on an open mount with no armored superstructure, so the crew works largely in the open air and the vehicle comes across more as a mobile artillery platform than as an armored fighting vehicle. At the rear it has a folding recoil spade, which digs into the ground before firing and takes up the recoil. The weapon served with the artillery units of the US Army and with other operators as well, and it was intended to destroy targets at long range, that is, for tasks where the weight of the arriving shell is what counts.
This is a kit for assembly and painting. The open structure means that far more detail is visible on the finished model than on a closed vehicle, which suits anyone who likes to work details up. The number of parts and the choice of marking options are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Rid the parts of surplus material and production marks and sand the mating surfaces. Test the assembly dry, and only then apply a cement intended for plastic models. On an open mount it pays to paint in groups and to put them together only afterward, because once they are glued you will not reach into the innards. Before painting, wash and degrease the surface, and apply masking tape before you start spraying.
The set suits modelers of postwar American equipment and anyone who likes artillery and open machines with plenty of visible detail. Paints, glue, thinner and tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
