An airbrush mask of late American registration numbers for the M4 Sherman tank in 1:35 scale from 1 Man Army. The numbers are sprayed directly onto the model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of painting templates for spraying American vehicle markings onto a model of the M4 Sherman tank in 1:35 scale. It is not a decal and not a kit, but a self-adhesive mask. It is applied to a finished coat, sprayed over with an airbrush, and once it is lifted the lettering is left sprayed directly in the paint, with no carrier film and no glossy edge. It is the late form and the fourth set in the series, so you can put your markings together from several sheets.
American vehicles of the Second World War carried registration numbers on the hull applied through a stencil. The form and the placement changed in the course of the war, which is why an early and a late form are distinguished on models. The M4 Sherman tank was the basic medium tank of the American army and of its allies and was produced in many variants that differed in hull, turret and powerplant; the markings, however, followed the period and the unit rather than the particular variant.
Let the coat cure and degrease the surface. Lay the template on with tweezers, align it with the edges of the hull and press the edges down carefully. Lay the paint on perpendicularly and in weak bursts only; that practically rules out seepage. Lift the mask off while the paint is fresh. So that the lettering does not look stuck on, go over its edges with a fine abrasive sponge pad and add a dust filter; on real vehicles the markings were often rubbed and dirty.
