An injection-molded plastic kit of the heavy M19 transporter combination in the form with an open tractor cab covered by a tarpaulin. The combination paired a powerful heavy tractor with a low-loading trailer and served to move tanks and heavy loads by road, where tracked vehicles would needlessly wreck both the road and themselves. In 1:35 scale it makes a long and conspicuous model that combines well with a tank in the same scale and is a rewarding basis for a transport diorama.
The M19 consisted of a heavy tractor with multi-axle drive and a low-loading trailer with loading ramps and a winch, with which immobilized vehicles were pulled onto the platform. The form with a canvas cab was made alongside the enclosed all-metal variant; the two differed in the handling of the roof and the sides of the cab, and the rest of the design stayed the same. The combination was built for pulling power and toughness, not for speed.
Divide the build: the tractor separately, the trailer separately. It pays to paint the cab with its tarpaulin before the glazing and the small parts are fitted; canvas is done with glazes in beige and gray-green tones, so that it is told apart from metal. On the running gear, watch that all the wheels seat; with so many axles it easily happens that one is left in the air. The winch, the cables and the loading ramps are rewarding details, and a metal cable instead of a plastic part benefits them. In color it is a classic single-color olive drab vehicle, which has to be enlivened: lightening of the upper faces, a dark wash in the panels, wear on the edges of the platform and above all heavy dusting of the wheel arches and the platform with pigments.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
