Tamiya 1:35 U.S. M40 - a turned metal barrel is a detail set for the kit of the M40 self-propelled gun. An aluminum barrel with a bore replaces the plastic part with more accurate metal.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit but a detail set for 1:35 scale from Tamiya. The set replaces the plastic barrel of the American heavy self-propelled gun M40 with a precisely turned aluminum barrel. Metal holds a perfect shape, does not suffer from sink marks along the mold parting line and carries an engraved suggestion of rifling at the muzzle, so the barrel looks realistic even close up. The accessory is intended for the plastic M40 kit from Tamiya.
The M40 was an American 155 mm self-propelled gun of the end of the Second World War, built on a chassis derived from the Sherman tank. Thanks to its long, powerful barrel it served as heavy artillery support and was deployed in the Korean War as well. It is precisely the long barrel that is the visual dominant of the model, which is why a metal replacement pays off there.
Degrease the metal surface before painting and coat it with a base suitable for metal (metal primer) so that the paint holds well. The barrel can be seated with super glue or with epoxy. Supplementary parts and decals to represent the rounds tend to be included as well - follow the instructions in the package.
This is a detail set, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
