An injection-molded plastic kit of the American heavily armored M4A3E2 Jumbo assault tank in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Tamiya. It is a classic, well-building mold with reinforced hull armor and a cast turret; the package contains the short 75 mm M3 gun with the option of open or closed hatches and two figures (a commander and a driver), which bring the model to life.
The M4A3E2, nicknamed Jumbo among the infantry, came about in 1944 as a heavily armored version of the Sherman intended for direct infantry support and for breaking through the German defenses on the Western Front. The frontal armor of the hull was reinforced to roughly 101 mm and the sides to 76 mm, and the new cast turret received an exceptionally thick gun shield; the weight grew, but the proven Ford V8 engine provided the power. The vehicle kept the 75 mm M3 gun and only around 250 were built, yet it became a legend for its toughness at the head of an attack.
Finish and paint the running gear and the wheels before the hull is seated. The cast turret and the hull front have a coarser casting texture, which you will bring out with a dark wash. An airbrush and shade modulation suit the olive green US camouflage; create wear by rubbing the paint off the edges, with dust and mud pigments on the running gear and a hint of rust on the exhaust and the tools. Paint the figures separately and fit them only at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
