An accessory set from the Czech brand Black Dog in 1:35 for a model of the American White 666 heavy truck. It is not a model of the vehicle but an accessory for it: it enriches the load area and the area around the cab with cargo and kit, thanks to which the model stops looking like an empty truck off the production line.
The White 666 was one of the American heavy trucks of the Second World War with all-wheel drive. Machines of this class served as artillery tractors, as carriers for superstructures, as workshop and crane trucks and anywhere a heavy load had to be taken off hard roads. Besides the US Army they also reached the Allies, among other ways through deliveries to the Soviet Union, so they appear in photographs from very different fronts. Trucks are among the most rewarding subjects for dioramas, because they are large and open and everything lying on them is visible.
The load area is a rewarding scene in itself. It pays to paint the cargo separately and to play with the difference between materials: canvas, wood, metal and painted surfaces each have a different gloss. Earthy weathering makes most sense on a truck from below, on the fenders and the wheels, while the upper areas will take dust and a slight fading of the color instead.
It is an accessory for a model, not a model of the vehicle on its own.
