Self-adhesive masks for painting a model of the self-propelled anti-aircraft gun ZSU-57-2 in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit but an accessory for painting. The masks separate the rubber tire band of a road wheel from its disc, so you spray the edge with an airbrush instead of running around it with a fine brush.
Where it shows
The chassis of this machine rests on four road wheels on each side and the wheels are not covered by side skirts, so they are clearly visible on the model. A shaky line on a tire band is therefore conspicuous. With a mask the edge is the same everywhere and painting the wheels takes a fraction of the time.
The ZSU-57-2 is a Soviet self-propelled anti-aircraft gun of the 1950s: a lightened chassis derived from a medium tank with an open rotating turret on it carrying a pair of guns of 57 mm caliber. The vehicle entered the armament of a number of armies of the Eastern bloc and of the Middle East and was used against ground targets too.
Spray the wheels with the dark color of the rubber and let them dry. Then lay the mask on the tire band, press it down around the edge with a soft wooden stick and apply the base shade of the vehicle over it. Spray straight on and in thin coats. Take the masks off with tweezers shortly after the paint is dry to the touch. It makes sense to paint the wheels before you fit them to the hull and put the tracks on.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The model and the paints are not included in the package.
