A detail set for the pilot's and the operator's station of a model of the Tomcat in 1:48 scale. The same set is released in versions for different kits, so what matters is this: this one is cut for the Academy kit. The color items are glued to the parts of the cockpit and give both seats readable panels.
The F-14A was a two-seat carrier fighter with a variable-geometry wing, which the US Navy introduced above all as a carrier of long-range guided missiles. The rear crew member operated a powerful radar and had a station of his own with no conventional flight controls, so his compartment looks quite different from the pilot's cockpit. The A version flew with engines that were sensitive to abrupt changes of setting and demanded careful work with the throttles from the pilots. Operation from the decks of aircraft carriers accompanied the type throughout its service and left its mark on the robust design of the landing gear and the airframe.
First try assembling both compartments dry, because the tubs often jam against the inner walls of the fuselage. Lay the items of the rear station down before the pilot's ones, as they are harder to reach later. The side consoles carry a lot of fine artwork, so work in good light and with fine tweezers. Before closing the fuselage, check that nothing protrudes anywhere.
To use the set you need the matching kit, and it is not in the package.
