Fast Guide - McLaren F1 GTR Short Tail is a publication from the Komakai brand on the McLaren F1 GTR in its original, shorter body form.
Responsibility details are not available.
A printed publication from the Fast Guide series, which the Komakai brand publishes. The subject is the McLaren F1 GTR in the version known as Short Tail, that is in the form with the shorter rear end, as the car looked before its later aerodynamic rework.
The year 1995 wrote a result into McLaren's history that nobody expected. A car derived from a road automobile won the twenty-four-hour race at Le Mans outright, and at its very first attempt. A wet edition favored reliability, and McLaren had it, while the faster prototypes dropped out. The Short Tail designation only came into use afterwards, once the extended version had appeared and the two had to be told apart. For a modeler this form of the F1 GTR is the most characteristic, because it keeps the proportions of the road car, including the central driving position. That is exactly why model builders keep coming back to it, and it remains a perennial subject.
Modelers who build cars of the 1990s, collectors of literature on Le Mans and anyone interested in the engineering that shifted the boundary between the road car and the racing car.
