A publication of the Fast Guide line of the Komakai brand, devoted to the Ford GT40 endurance racing car. A reference for building a model, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Ford GT40 is among the best-known endurance racing cars of the sixties. The name refers to the low build of the car, whose roof ends at a height of about forty inches, that is a little over a meter above the ground. The engine is housed behind the driver's back, the body has wide fenders and a long tail, and the cockpit is so cramped that the doors cut into the roof. It is exactly these shapes that make the GT40 a rewarding but merciless subject: every deviation from the outline shows on a model.
The title belongs to the Fast Guide line, which the Komakai brand devotes to one car at a time. It helps the modeler where a kit says nothing: with the layout of the interior, with the suspension, with the vents and with the placing of lettering and racing numbers. With a car that appeared in races in many color schemes and in several built forms, it pays to leaf through a reference before the decision is made as to which particular form the model will carry.
For builders of models of endurance racing cars, for anyone interested in the hardware of the sixties and for collectors of motorsport literature. It is a publication in its own right classed under literature; a model, a kit and decals are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
