Fast Guide - Celica GT-Four ST165 is a Komakai publication on the first generation of the Toyota Celica GT-Four rally car. It is not a model but a printed volume.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Fast Guide series by Komakai covers one subject at a time, and here it is the first-generation Toyota Celica GT-Four with the factory designation ST165. The customer gets a printed volume, not a box with a kit or accessories.
The ST165 was the first Celica with four-wheel drive and a force-fed two-liter four-cylinder engine, and it was with this car that Toyota entered Group A in full. The rally version was taken care of by the European works team based in Cologne, which turned a civilian coupe into a car capable of beating the European elite of the day. The first win in the world championship came in 1989, and in the very next season Carlos Sainz took the drivers' world title on the Celica, the first ever for a Japanese brand. Besides the European special stages the car also coped with the long African marathons, where endurance counted most.
The rally Celica is built in large and small scales alike, and the differences between individual entries are considerable: different lights, different guards, different wheels and different equipment in the trunk. The reference makes it possible to decide which solution belongs to a chosen event and where a kit departs from reality.
