A publication from the Ultra Detail Guide series of the Japanese publisher Komakai, focused on the Lancia Delta S4 rally car. It is not a kit but a standalone title that serves a modeler as reference material on one particular subject.
The Delta S4 was related to the production Delta only by the shape of its body. Under the fiberglass panels hid a tubular frame, a mid-mounted engine and four-wheel drive. Its peculiarity was a force-fed four-cylinder that combined a supercharger for low revs with a turbocharger for high ones, in order to suppress the delay in throttle response. The car won its very first event at the British rally at the end of 1985 and added Monte Carlo at the start of 1986. Group B ended, however, after the tragic accident in Corsica in 1986, and with it the career of this machine at the highest level. A road version designated Stradale was also built for homologation.
With Group B cars the same body appears in many color schemes and states according to individual events. A title that keeps to a single type helps bring the details of the chassis, the cockpit and the accessories on the roof and fenders into line.
