P-51 B/C invasion stripes 18 inches is a set of Omask masks in 1:72 scale for spraying invasion stripes onto the Mustang kit from Arma Hobby.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set deals with one particular task: to spray invasion stripes onto a model of the Mustang so that they have straight edges and the right spacing. Instead of a decal, which breaks up on a rounded fuselage, the area is masked off and the paint is applied directly to the covering. The stripe width of 18 inches corresponds to the regulation of the time for single-engine fighters. The set is cut for the P-51 B/C kit from Arma Hobby in 1:72 scale.
The black and white stripes on the wings and fuselages of Allied aircraft appeared in June 1944 for the sake of the landings in Normandy, so that the crews of the antiaircraft defenses and the pilots could recognize their own machines at first glance. The P-51B and the P-51C were versions of the Mustang with a framed cockpit canopy and a Packard Merlin engine, which were able to escort bomber formations deep over the continent.
Neither the Arma Hobby kit nor the paints are included with the extra.
