Omask 1:48 F-4 Phantom — wheel bay plugs (for Meng) are foam bungs shaped exactly to the wheel bays of the Phantom kit from Meng in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit but a masking aid for spraying a model.

This product is not a kit. They are shaped plugs of flexible foam that drop into the wheel bays of a model and close them for the time it takes to paint. The set is shaped to the bays of one particular kit: the F-4 Phantom from Meng in 1:48 scale.
A modeler paints and details the wheel bay among the first steps of a build. But before the fuselage, the wings and the camouflage come to be sprayed, this deep cavity has to be masked — otherwise paint flies into it and the work done is gone. The classic solution with tape and cotton wool is tiresome, slow and above all unreliable: you cannot get tape properly into an irregular cavity and the paint creeps in anyway. A plug simply goes into the bay, the model is sprayed and once dry the plug comes out again. The foam compresses in the opening, seals the edges by itself and holds without glue. As a bonus it also protects the bay during sanding and from dust.
A plug cannot be made universal: it is shaped to the bay of one particular kit. This set is for Meng in 1:48 scale. Omask offers further sets for the Phantom too — for kits from other manufacturers (Academy, for instance) and for other scales (1:72 for Hasegawa, for instance). The set for Meng will not fit a kit from another manufacturer even in the same 1:48 scale, because the bays differ in shape. Before ordering, check whose Phantom you are building.
The F-4 Phantom II was an American two-seat twin-engine multirole fighter — one of the most widespread combat aircraft of the Cold War. It was operated by the US Air Force, the Navy and the Marine Corps and it also flew with a number of allied states. It is unmistakable thanks to the dihedral of the outer wing panels and the drooped horizontal tail surfaces. The Phantom existed in many versions, which differed according to whether they were built for the Navy or for the Air Force. The set of plugs is not tied to a version of the aircraft, however — it is tied to a particular kit.
This is neither a model nor model parts — it is a masking aid bought in addition. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
