This ELEFANT accessory set replaces the bases on which the return rollers are mounted to the running gear. According to the title the parts carry the relief of a casting number and the contents are enough for two vehicles. They are intended for Pz.III tanks of the E to N versions and for StuG III assault guns of the A to G versions; the note pattern 1 marks the first of the two versions offered.
The return rollers guide the upper run of the track and their mounting is one of the places that remain in view from the side on a finished model. Production moldings tend to have this area simplified, with no noticeable relief and without the markings the real parts carried from the factory. Replacing them therefore helps visually even when you otherwise build straight from the box, and it shows most on models you want to photograph or place in a display case at eye level.
First try dry how the part beds down on the side of the hull, and only then remove the original shape. Work with a sharp scalpel and a fine file so as not to rub away the surrounding rivets needlessly. The contents are reckoned for two vehicles, so you can try one installation as a rehearsal first. The relief of the number stands out if, once painted, you underline it with a thin flowing shade that stays in the recesses and then lighten the surrounding surface again.
