1:144 JG 5 over the Far North, Part I is an AML Decals sheet devoted to the machines of the German fighter wing JG 5, which operated in the area of the far north.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set from the AML Decals brand for aircraft models in 1:144 scale. The first part of a series aimed at the German fighter wing JG 5 and its operations in the northern regions. These are markings on their own, not a kit.
JG 5 was one of the Luftwaffe units deployed in the northernmost part of the European theater. Operating in such an area differed from the rest of the front: a long polar night, snow for most of the year and low temperatures. That was reflected in the appearance of the aircraft too, where winter finishes and bold identification bands appeared.
Northern camouflage schemes tend to be broken up, so lay out in advance where the decals will lie. Avoid the transitions between finishes and the edges of panels; that is where a motif settles worst. Polish the base to a gloss, settle the decal and blot the excess water away from the center toward the edge. Winter finishes are finally set off well by a fine dust shade at the wing root. A worn winter finish is a rewarding subject: the original camouflage shows through beneath it and the model gains depth from it.
The package contains decals. A model, paints and varnishes are not supplied with it.
