1:72 Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Vb Czechoslovak pilots of No.65 Squadron RAF is an AML decal set for models of the Spitfire in a small scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
A decal sheet from AML in 1:72 scale, devoted to Spitfire Mk.Vbs and to the Czechoslovak airmen who served with No. 65 Squadron of the Royal Air Force. You are buying the markings alone for a finished model, not a kit of the aircraft.
The Spitfire Mk.V was the most numerously built version of the type and in the Mk.Vb form it carried the combined armament of two cannons and four machine guns. It was powered by the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine and from 1941 it formed the backbone of the fighter force. Czechoslovak pilots did not fly only with their own squadrons; a number of them passed through British units as well, among them No. 65 Squadron. It is precisely these less known stories that turn an ordinary Spitfire into an interesting collector's piece.
The Spitfire has smooth wings with fine scribing, so a decal holds well. Even so a gloss intermediate coat is worth it, so that the border of the film disappears. Align the roundels by the leading edge, not by the edge of the wing, which is rounded. Split the fuselage codes into individual letters only when it is necessary for following the shape. Finish the model with a semi-matte varnish that matches the period surface.
Sold on its own. A model of the Spitfire and paints are not enclosed.
