1:72 Paint mask Su-24M (TRUMP) is a set of templates for masking the glazing of a model of the Soviet Su-24M tactical bomber in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The SX-Art templates cover the cockpit glazing and the other areas that are to stay transparent during painting. The Su-24M has a cockpit with a large proportion of frames and flat segments, so masking it by hand with tape tends to be lengthy and the result varies. Pre-cut pieces remove that problem: the frame is sprayed together with the fuselage and the edges keep the same width all over the cockpit. The item is meant as an accessory for the build and does not make up a model on its own.
The Su-24M belongs to the Fencer, a two-seat frontline bomber with a variable-geometry wing. The crew sits side by side, which is unusual for machines in this category and makes cooperation between the pilot and the operator easier. The machine was created for penetrating to the target at low altitude and high speed, that is below the reach of radars. The M version added equipment for guiding munitions and widened the range of weapons the machine can carry under the wing and the fuselage. The variable-geometry wing meanwhile allowed it a short takeoff run as well as an economical transit over a long distance.
Before sticking the templates on it is advisable to have the glazing polished and free of grease. Lead the paint from the edge of the mask into the area and preferably in lighter passes. Take the set off shortly after it has set, not after the surface has fully hardened.
