The Browning M2 is a 12.7 mm heavy machine gun that has served practically unchanged from the interwar period to this day. The M2HB designation belongs to the heavy barrel version: a thicker barrel wall carries the heat away better, so the weapon will take longer firing without a change of barrel. The M3 tripod is a ground mount on which the machine gun was used away from vehicles, that is in positions, at trenches and in defense.
