Responsibility details are not available.
On this sheet Mark I offers the national insignia of the air forces of the Baltic states. They are classic wet decals printed on film, not stickers and not masking templates. An assignment to one type of aircraft is deliberately missing here, because the markings suit any model of the matching period and scale.
Between the world wars Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania built up air forces of their own. They were equipped largely with imported hardware from Britain, France, Italy and Czechoslovakia, completed by a few domestic designs. They were small but carefully run bodies, whose independent existence ended in 1940. For a modeler they are interesting precisely because ordinary British or Italian types take on an entirely unusual look in their colors. Most of the machines flew in simple smooth finishes, so the markings tend to be the only thing that sets a model apart visually. The insignia will also find use on aircraft of domestic design, which arose in these countries in small batches.
Interwar machines tend to be fabric-covered, so the surface of a model is often not smooth. Before applying a marking, smooth the area with gloss clear and, once the decal has dried, return it to matte. A softener will help the film adhere across the ribbing.
