Responsibility details are not available.
An acrylic board with a printed road surface, matched to models in 1:43 scale. The thickness comes to 3 millimeters, the area is 180 x 357 millimeters and the weight roughly 210 grams. Because models in this scale are smaller, the same area takes in a longer stretch of the route than with the larger scales.
The route got its number in 1926 and joined Chicago with Santa Monica on the Californian coast; it measured not quite four thousand kilometers. It was struck off the official road network in 1985, when its role was taken over by the Interstate highways. A number of stretches are kept up to this day, however, and are driven as a tourist attraction, which keeps the theme alive. That is exactly why the motif turns up in collections across the generations.
1:43 is the home scale of collector automobiles, and individual pieces in it are usually lined up into longer arrangements. This way you can place two or even three cars one behind another and a small scene arises rather than a mere plinth. Under display case lighting the board makes no reflections that would overpower the drawing of the surface. And because a whole group of models can be carried together with the base at once, rearranging a collection is a matter of moments.
The product is finished; it is not a kit and not a semi-finished piece.
