ZIS-151 with the VAREM box body is a kit of a Soviet workshop vehicle in 1:43 scale from the maker AVD Models.
Responsibility details are not available.
An assembly model of the ZIS-151 truck with a closed box body of the kung type, in the form of a mobile repair workshop designated VAREM. Vehicles with a kung body make up a chapter of their own and a popular one among collectors: the chassis is an ordinary truck, but the body turns it into an entirely different machine. 1:43 scale matches collector car models, so the finished vehicle will fit the same cabinet.
The ZIS-151 was a three-axle truck with all-wheel drive, built from the end of the 1940s, and it became the basis for a whole range of derived vehicles and bodies. The abbreviation kung denotes, in local practice, a closed box body with solid walls, a door and windows, into which a workplace, a workshop or signals equipment was built. The VAREM body was one of the repair forms, that is vehicles that saw to the maintenance and repair of equipment directly in the field, away from a permanent workshop.
The box body is a large angular surface on which every irregularity shows, so sand it down before painting and level the joints carefully. Paint the body and the cab separately from the frame, so that you can reach under the wheel arches. To keep the model from looking flat, shade the individual walls of the body a shade apart from each other and bring out the edges gently. Traces of service make sense on a workshop vehicle around the door and the steps, and as dust on the lower thirds of the walls.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
