Single-sided masks for the Junkers F 13 early production model from Miniart in 1:48. The prepared stencils cover the areas that are meant to stay untouched during spraying.

A single-sided masking set for a model of the first all-metal airliner from the Miniart kit. The name refers to the early production rendition. It is not a kit, only stencils that cover during spraying what is meant to stay clean.
The Junkers F 13 first flew in 1919 and was the first series-built airliner with an all-metal airframe. The corrugated duralumin skin, which became the recognition feature of Junkers designs, gave the thin shell stiffness without external bracing. Inside was an enclosed cabin for four passengers, while the pilots at first sat in an open space in front of it. The machines were sold to dozens of countries, flew on floats and on skis and stayed in service into the 1930s. The designer Hugo Junkers built on his experience from wartime all-metal aircraft and carried it over into civil operations.
A corrugated surface is treacherous for masking: the stencil has to follow the ribbing, otherwise the paint will creep underneath. Press it therefore into every hollow with a blunt stick and direct the spray straight down from above. A metallic look is easier to manage over a smooth, perfectly sanded primer than straight onto plastic. Let the fuselage rest longer after spraying than on smooth models, because paint dries more slowly in the corrugations.
The package holds masking material only; the aircraft itself is obtained separately.
