The motif of the forward lift of the Japanese ship Hyuga (DDH 181) in 1:72 scale will serve as a base for a model of a helicopter or an aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
The artwork concentrates on the area of the forward deck lift of the Japanese ship Hyuga. The lift is a rewarding subject for a modeling scene: it has distinct outline markings, a different surface texture from the surrounding deck and its size naturally frames one machine. The item is not a kit of a ship; it is a base for a model you already have finished.
The Hyuga, with the hull designation DDH 181, entered service with the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force in 2009 as the first unit of her class. Although Japan classifies her as a destroyer, in form she is a ship with a continuous flight deck and an island superstructure on the starboard side, that is a vessel a layman easily mistakes for a small aircraft carrier. Her main tasks are anti-submarine warfare and command of a force, for which the shipboard helicopters serve, and for them the ship is equipped with a hangar and a pair of lifts. The Hyuga has repeatedly taken part in humanitarian operations, among others after the earthquake of 2011.
A helicopter with rotor blades spread looks good on such an area only when the blades do not overhang the base. If they do overhang, choose the folded rendition instead or turn the machine diagonally. The gray surface of the deck is very neutral, so the scene gains when you add a color element to it, for instance a figure of a deck director.
