Base for models with the motif of the deck of the aircraft carrier USS Wasp in the years 1964 to 1970, 1:72 scale. An acrylic board 3 mm thick measuring 280 x 180 mm.
Responsibility details are not available.
The USS Wasp with hull number 18 belonged to the aircraft carriers of the Essex class. In the 1960s she served under the CVS designation, that is as a carrier intended for anti-submarine warfare, and it is in this form that the motif of the base captures her for the years 1964 to 1970. The deck of such a ship has a character of its own: the markings, the guide lines and the traces of service make it a rewarding background for a model.
The base is made of an acrylic board 3 mm thick measuring 280 x 180 mm and weighs 170 grams. In 1:72 scale its area corresponds to roughly twenty meters by thirteen meters of real deck, so it serves well under a model of an aircraft or a helicopter in this scale. The board is firm, does not bend and holds its shape while the model is carried. The motif is rendered in the version labeled Type 2. The base is finished, so it is enough to unwrap it and stand a model on it.
The base alone is supplied, in the stated size and rendition. Models, figures and a cabinet are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
