1:48 A-10A Thunderbolt II SPACE details the cockpit of the American attack aircraft with color three-dimensional decals and photo-etched steel belts.
Responsibility details are not available.
The cockpit of a machine made to work over a battlefield is full of controls, gauges and lettering. Painting that by hand in 1:48 scale is very difficult. A set of the SPACE range supplies all that color content as thin layered decals, which transfer onto the plastic parts, and it adds harnesses in photo-etched steel for the ejection seat.
The attack aircraft came about around a single weapon: a seven-barrel 30 mm rotary cannon, which takes up a substantial part of the forward fuselage. The pilot sits in a tub of titanium armor, the two engines are set high at the sides of the rear fuselage out of reach of fire from below, and the straight wing of large area allows slow flight over a target. The basic A version served from the 1970s and made its name in the desert campaigns at the turn of the millennium.
Spray the cockpit parts with the base shade and polish them with a gloss varnish. Moisten only the backing paper, lift the element off with tweezers and seat it with a cotton swab into a drop of white glue. Blot the excess moisture so that the layer does not slide. Do not use a decal softener at all, as it would attack the printed resin, and at the end knock the whole compartment back to flat.
