1:48 A-10A/C Thunderbolt II, outer cockpit framing (Hobby Boss) covers the glazed area of the attack aircraft and prepares the frames for spraying.
Responsibility details are not available.
Cut stencils for the cockpit framing of the American attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. They cover the outer surface of the glazing and and according to the name the shape matches the canopy of the Hobby Boss kit.
The Fairchild Republic A-10 grew out of a requirement of the late 1960s for an aircraft that would withstand fire from below and could circle over a battlefield for a long time. A straight wing of large area gives it a low stalling speed and agility near the ground, and engines set high at the rear take in less dirt from unpaved strips. The twin vertical tail surfaces stay effective even if the machine loses one of them in combat, and that was not a theoretical consideration: aircraft damaged in exactly that way did come back from combat sorties.
First spray the frames in the shade of the interior and only then with the camouflage finish. After laying the stencils on, run a blunt toothpick over their edges once more, so that no air pocket is left anywhere. Anyone working with a brush should always draw from the edge of the stencil inwards, otherwise the paint will be pushed under it. It pays to try the placement dry first; the position of the frame is then easier to find and nothing is spoiled. Do not direct the airflow at an angle around the edges, as the mist would get where it should not.
