About product

1:48 A-10C seatbelts STEEL, steel seat belts

The set handles a single but clearly visible detail: the seat belts of the pilot's seat of an A-10C model in 1:48 scale. The material is not the usual brass but steel, which with belts is a fundamental difference. A steel belt holds its shape once bent, so it can be left draping freely, thrown over the seat back or twisted the way it would lie in a real cockpit. The parts are pre-painted, that is, with the printing finished including the fittings, so there is no need to paint miniature buckles.

Why it is worth adding the belts

The seat is a dominant element in an open cockpit and the plastic rendering usually impoverishes it: the belts are either missing or suggested in relief. Metal belts stay thin for the scale, cast a shadow of their own and look soft, like fabric, in an otherwise hard plastic interior. It is one of the simplest modifications with an immediately visible result.

The real subject

The A-10 Thunderbolt II is an American attack aircraft for close support of ground forces, recognizable by the engines mounted high on the sides of the rear fuselage, the twin vertical tails and the armored tub protecting the pilot. The A-10C version went through a modernization of the cockpit equipment. The pilot's station is adapted to long missions at low altitude, which is reflected in the arrangement of the seat and the restraints as well.

Usage tips

Build the seat first, paint it and let it dry thoroughly. Cut the parts out of the fret with a scalpel, not by breaking them off. Make the bend over a sharp edge or in a bending tool and shape the sag over a rounded tool. Bond with super glue in a minimal amount; any excess turns white and in 1:48 scale that is immediately visible. Do not overcoat the printing with aggressive clear coats.

Who the set is for

  • Modelers who build the A-10 in 1:48 scale with an open cockpit
  • Those who want to add only the belts and leave the rest of the interior from the kit
  • Beginners looking for an easy first contact with photo-etched parts

The set is an accessory for a kit, not a standalone model. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.

FAQ

The belts are etched from steel, which holds its shape once bent. A brass belt likes to return to the flat and is harder to shape.

No, this item covers the seat belts only. A cockpit panel is found in the more extensive photo-etched sets.

With super glue applied in a minimal amount. Plastic cement will not join metal.
