1:48 A-1H

Eduard A-1H Skyraider 1:48, set of painting masks

This is a set of self-adhesive painting masks, cut from Japanese kabuki tape, from the Czech maker Eduard in 1:48 scale. The masks serve for accurate, clean spraying of the frames of the cabin glazing and usually of the wheel discs as well on the plastic model of the A-1H Skyraider. It is neither a kit nor a set of decals but an aftermarket accessory for painting, used while building the matching model. The model itself is obtained separately.

The real subject

The Douglas A-1 Skyraider was an American single-engine piston attack aircraft with an exceptional external stores load and long endurance over the battlefield. The A-1H version was one of the most widely built. Although it came about at the end of the Second World War, it made its name only in the Korean War and in Vietnam as a tough and reliable machine for close air support.

Use

• The masks are transferred from the backing sheet and stuck onto the clear cabin glazing following the shape of the frames.
• The transitions are pressed down so that paint does not run under the edge, and the area is oversprayed with an airbrush.
• Once dry, the masks are lifted off; kabuki tape keeps its shape and leaves no adhesive.
• Masks for the wheel discs are usually included, for easy separation of the tire from the rim.

Who the set is for

• Modelers building the A-1H Skyraider in 1:48 scale who want clean cabin frames
• Builders who do not want to cut and brush-paint the frames laboriously
• Anyone interested in making the painting of glazing faster and more accurate

This is a set of painting masks, not an aircraft model. The model, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
