A more extensive photo-etched set from Eduard for a 1:48 model of the Douglas A-4B Skyhawk carrier-based attack aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
A fret of photo-etched metal parts for building a 1:48 model of the early Douglas A-4B Skyhawk carrier-based attack aircraft. The set does not replace the model, it adds to it where plastic would have to stay thicker than the real thing. The code places the item in the more extensive photo-etched range that Eduard runs alongside the narrower Zoom sets.
The Skyhawk came about as a counterweight to the trend of the time toward ever larger carrier aircraft. The design team went consistently for low weight, and the resulting machine fitted on the deck elevator without folding its wing, which saved space and mechanism on the ship. The A-4B version belongs to the early production machines and brought, among other things, the ability to refuel in flight. The airframe is short and compact, so every refined detail shows more strongly on it than on a large aircraft.
Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand off what is left of the fret tab. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); ordinary polystyrene cement will not bond metal. Make the bends in a photo-etch bender or between two blades and try the position of the part dry before gluing. Before painting, wash the metal, degrease it and apply a primer.
For builders of carrier hardware who want to go into detail. The manufacturer also makes the narrower Zoom set of the same name under the code FE1473, so go by the code. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
