1:48 A-4B/C Skyhawk landing flaps is a full photo-etched set from Eduard for the landing flaps of the Douglas A-4 light attack aircraft in the early B and C versions.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched set from the Czech maker Eduard for models of the Douglas A-4 Skyhawk carrier-based light attack aircraft in the A-4B and A-4C versions. It is not a kit but an accessory for a part-built model in 1:48 scale. The code of the set belongs to the full photo-etched range, that is to the more extensive of Eduard's variants, not to the narrower Zoom range.
On plastic parts the landing flaps are usually molded closed and in one piece with the wing. The modeler then loses a view that is typical of carrier aircraft: a machine parked on the deck or on the apron usually has its flaps drooped and the inner surfaces exposed. The photo-etched parts make it possible to show the flaps extended and to fill the space behind them with ribs and stiffeners that cannot be molded in plastic. The result is deeper and sharper detail in a place the viewer looks at among the first.
The Skyhawk was designed by Ed Heinemann's team as a deliberately small and light carrier-based bomber with a delta wing so compact that it did not have to fold for the elevator. The A-4B version received, among other things, equipment for refueling in flight, and the A-4C then equipment for operating in poor visibility. Both belong to the early machines, which carry the simplest shape of the spine without the later avionics hump.
