A set of the SPACE line from the Czech maker Eduard for models of the Douglas A-4C Skyhawk attack aircraft in 1:48 scale. The basis is formed by 3D-printed decals with relief that are applied to the plastic parts of the cockpit, supplemented by pre-varnished photo-etched belts. The modeler thus gets a varied cockpit considerably faster than by hand painting. The aircraft is not in the package.
The Skyhawk came about in the 1950s as a deliberately small and light carrier-based attack aircraft. The delta-wing design did without a folding mechanism, which saved weight as well as space on the deck of a carrier. The A-4C version followed on from the A-4B and brought equipment that allowed flight and attack even in poor visibility. Skyhawks became a typical machine of the US Navy and it is in its colors that enthusiasts of the Vietnam War know them above all.
In the Skyhawk cockpit the 3D panels stand out against a darker base, so do not rush to glue them before the base color has matured. Settle the decal into place with a wet brush and press it down so that no air is left anywhere. Seat the side consoles separately, otherwise they warp easily. Do not use a decal softener: the chemicals would attack the printed resin. At the end we recommend only a spot matte overcoat and a light accentuation of the edges, so that the relief stays apparent.
Offered as a standalone accessory. The Skyhawk kit is bought separately.
