This is a set of fine photo-etched brass parts for refining the plastic model of the Douglas A-4E/F Skyhawk in 1:48 scale. It is neither a kit nor a model of the aircraft but an accessory that replaces and completes details which are hard to injection-mold in plastic - fine panels, grilles, loops, cockpit features and other small equipment. The set is meant for more experienced modelers who want to lift the model above what comes out of the box.
The Douglas A-4 Skyhawk was a small American carrier-based attack aircraft of the US Navy and the Marine Corps. Its light structure with a delta wing needed no wing folding for the carrier deck. The A-4E version received a more powerful engine and more pylons, and the A-4F in addition the characteristic dorsal hump with avionics. The Skyhawk served for decades with many countries.
Separate the parts from the fret carefully with a sharp scalpel on a hard surface and bend them along the marked lines, ideally in a photo-etch bending tool. They are bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate), and on larger areas a two-part glue helps as well. The color and instrument parts are usually self-adhesive. The work calls for tweezers, patience and a steady hand, so we recommend the set to advanced modelers.
It is supplied as a photo-etched set for finishing a plastic model, unpainted. It is not a model of the aircraft; the plastic kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
