1:48 A6M2 Model 11 Hinomaru airbrush mask is a set of spraying masks from MH models for applying the Japanese national insignia to a model of the A6M2 Model 11 fighter. It is not a kit and not decals.

This is a set of self-adhesive spraying masks intended for modelers who want the national insignia sprayed in paint rather than applied as a decal. The mask is transferred onto an already painted surface of the model, sprayed over and removed once dry. The insignia then lies directly in the paint and has no glossy carrier film around it, the kind that often shows through on matte camouflage. The set is prepared for a model of the Japanese A6M2 Model 11 fighter in 1:48 scale; the kit itself and paints are not included in the package.
The A6M2 Model 11 was the first production version of the Mitsubishi A6M fighter. It differed from the later Model 21 above all in having no folding wingtips, and it was committed in combat mainly over China from 1940. Power came from a radial Nakajima Sakae engine. Its low weight, long range and agility made it one of the best known machines of its day.
The surface of the model has to be thoroughly dry and degreased, because otherwise the mask will not seat. Lift the pieces off the backing with tweezers or the tip of a scalpel and press the edges down firmly once they are in place, so that no paint runs underneath them. With a circular insignia it pays to spray a white base first and only then the target shade, because red does not cover on dark camouflage. Spray several very thin coats from a short distance and remove the mask shortly after the paint has dried, while it still holds a sharp edge. Finally unify the whole model with a clear varnish.
The package contains masks only. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
