Photo-etched metal parts for a model of the Japanese A6M5 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. They refine the small features for which the plastic part from a kit is too coarse.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Mitsubishi A6M was a carrier fighter of the Imperial Japanese Navy, which in the first years of the war in the Pacific won itself a reputation as an extraordinarily agile machine with a great range. The A6M5 version, also known as the Model 52, received a shortened wing with rounded tips and no folding section and individual exhaust stacks led out along the sides of the fuselage. It was the most numerously built variant of the whole line.
Photo-etched metal parts for refining a model of the A6M5 in 1:48 scale. Photo-etched metal comes in everywhere a part is to be thin: instrument panels, levers, brackets, buckles and small meshes are captured by metal in a thickness that a plastic part from a kit does not reach. The exact extent of the set and the kit it is matched to are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The parts are held on the carrier sheet by small tabs. Cut them off with a sharp blade on a hard surface and do not break them out, or they will bend. Make the bends over the edge of a ruler or in a bending tool and form sharp corners gradually. They are glued with super glue, which is practical to apply with the tip of a toothpick in small drops. Before painting, wash and degrease the metal and use a base coat for metal surfaces, or the paint will crack and peel off.
For modelers who build the Zero in 1:48 scale and want sharper shapes in the cockpit area and on the small features. Work with photo-etched parts asks for tweezers, a sharp blade and calm, but the result is visible at first glance. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
