1:48 A6M5 Reisen Nat. Insignias are masks from the Dead Design brand for spraying the hinomaru onto the late Mitsubishi A6M5 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set serves to spray the hinomaru onto a model of the A6M5, that is, onto the version of the Zero from the second half of the war. An insignia applied in paint stays in one plane with the finish and takes later scuffing and washes without peeling away the way a decal does.
The Model 52 was the most numerously built version of the whole series. The wing was given clipped, rounded tips without the folding mechanism, the exhausts changed to individual thrust-augmenting stubs and the wing skinning was strengthened so that the machine would take higher speeds in a dive. The rising weight, however, gradually took away the agility for which the earlier Zeros had been famous, and against the late American fighters the A6M5 was no longer enough.
The late Zeros wore a dark green upper surface, on which red goes brown without preparation. Put an opaque light base into the area of the disc first and then overpaint it with the final shade. The rounded wingtips on the Model 52 mean that the insignia lies close to an edge with pronounced curvature: place the mask in the middle and only then roll it out toward the edges with your fingers, otherwise a crease forms. After lifting it, go over the perimeter of the insignia with a damp brush to remove any remaining adhesive trace.
