A photo-etched set of seat belts in 1:48 scale from the Czech brand Eduard. It is not a model of the aircraft but a small accessory that is glued into the seats in a plastic kit of the Lancaster already purchased. The designation STEEL in the name refers to the steel version. Against brass, steel bends more pliably and holds its shape better, so a natural sag can be formed in the belts instead of a stiff straight strip.
An empty seat is one of the most conspicuous simplifications in plastic kits. On the Lancaster, with its extensively glazed cabin, the interior is visible from most angles, so detail in the pilot's compartment shows even after the fuselage has been closed. And the machines of No. 617 Squadron, which attacked the German dams in the Ruhr in May 1943, are among the most often and most carefully built versions of the type.
First bend the belts into a natural sag. A straight belt gives photo-etched parts away at first glance. Make the bend around the round shank of a drill bit, so that a smooth curve results rather than a sharp edge. Glue them into the seat with a drop of super glue applied with a pin, ideally before you close the fuselage up. Handle the parts with tweezers; they are easily distorted with the fingers.
