1:48 B-17G Flying Fortress (Early) Numbers And Insignia Paint Mask Set is two sheets of masks for spraying the insignia, letters and numerals of the early Flying Fortress.
Responsibility details are not available.
Two sheets of pre-cut masks cover the national insignia, letters and numerals of the early production Flying Fortresses in 1:48 scale. The individual nose paintings, which differ from machine to machine, are not included.
The G version brought the most pronounced change of the whole series: a remotely controlled twin-gun turret was added under the nose, which was meant at last to answer the head-on attacks of German fighters. The early examples still carried a number of elements taken over from the previous F version and differed from the later machines in the arrangement of the side gunner stations and in the solution of the tail position. It was precisely these Fortresses that formed the core of the daylight formations over Germany in the winter and spring of 1944.
A sprayed marking has no carrier film, so on a matte finish it creates no glossy outline and it will take chipping and weathering without the risk of the edge lifting. A smooth and dried base belongs under the stencil; secure the edges with a thin layer of covering varnish and apply the paint in several goes. Take peeled remnants of the mask off with tweezers right after the finish has flashed off, while the adhesive still holds only lightly.
