A photo-etched accessory set for a model of the four-engine B-24D Liberator bomber in 1:48 scale. It adds thin metal parts that plastic cannot match.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is intended for a model of the B-24D Liberator bomber in 1:48 scale and brings photo-etched metal accessories. Etch is made by chemically eating shapes out of thin metal sheet, so the parts have a thickness that injection-molded plastic cannot reach. Wherever a model calls for a thin wall, a grille, a strap or a buckle, a metal part looks more convincing than its plastic counterpart.
The B-24D is an American four-engine heavy bomber of the Second World War. You can recognize it by the narrow wing mounted high on the fuselage, the pair of vertical tails and the nose landing gear. It served over Europe and in the Pacific and was built in large numbers, so period photographs for a color scheme are easy to find.
Cut the part out of the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, do not break it out; run a fine file over the remaining stub. Make the bends along the scored lines, preferably in a bending tool or between two blades, and do it in one movement, because repeated bending tires the metal. Metal is bonded with super glue; polystyrene cement does not hold on it. Degrease the areas before painting and go over them with a primer coat, otherwise the covering layer will be rubbed off during handling. The extent of the set and the placement of the individual parts are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
