Self-adhesive masks for spraying the national insignia of the B-25B Mitchell bomber in 1:48 scale. According to the name they are cut for the Academy and Accurate kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The North American B-25 Mitchell was an American twin-engine medium bomber with twin vertical tails. The early B-25B form is connected above all with the raid on Tokyo in April 1942, when the machines took off from the deck of an aircraft carrier. It differed from later versions in armament and equipment.
The set serves for spraying the national insignia instead of decals. According to the name it is intended for the Academy and Accurate kits in 1:48 scale; with another kit, lay it against the parts beforehand and check whether the shapes and the spacing match them.
Wash the surface under the mask, degrease it and let it dry. Apply the mask to a finished colored base before spraying the insignia and press the edges down carefully so that paint does not run under them. On the large areas of the fuselage and the wing, take care that the mask does not bridge a rivet or a panel seam anywhere. Spray several thin coats, and multicolored insignia coat by coat according to the manufacturer's instructions. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, pulling at a slight angle.
The set suits modelers who want the insignia as part of the finish and want to avoid decal silvering, as well as those planning a worn and dusty finish. The procedure is slower than with decals, but the result looks like a genuine sprayed finish. This is an accessory: the kit, paints and glue are not part of the package, unless stated otherwise.
