An Eduard photo-etched set for the interior of the model of the twin-engine B-26 bomber in 1:48 scale. Thin metal parts give the cockpit a detail that plastic at this thickness cannot manage.
Responsibility details are not available.
Photo-etch is a thin metal fret with an etched relief. The parts are separated from it, bent into shape and glued onto the model. Metal holds its shape even at a thickness that cannot be reached in plastic, which is why interior photo-etch aims at seat belts, consoles, handles, grilles and the faces of instrument panels, that is at the places where a plastic part is necessarily thicker than the real thing.
A photo-etched fret is drawn for one particular kit and need not line up on another. The designation B-26 was moreover carried by two different American twin-engine bombers, so before buying check in the instructions from the manufacturer which model and which version the set is cut for. The extent of the contents and the order of assembly are given in the same instructions.
Separate a part with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not by breaking it out in your fingers: thin metal twists otherwise and straightens badly. Lead the bends over the edge of a bending tool or between two blades, so that the edge is crisp along its whole length. They are glued with super glue laid on the tip of a toothpick, as cement for polystyrene will not join metal. Wash the metal and degrease it before painting and use a primer, or the coat will peel off the smooth surface.
A photo-etched set is supplied. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
