Eduard 1:48 BAe Harrier GR.1/3 – steel seat belts is a small photo-etched set of belts for the cockpit of a plastic kit. It is not a model of an aircraft, but an accessory for one.
Responsibility details are not available.
A small photo-etched set from the Czech brand Eduard in 1:48 scale containing the pilot's seat belts for kits of the BAe Harrier in the GR.1 and GR.3 versions. According to the name the belts are made in steel, which against brass has better springiness and holds its shaping. It is not a model of an aircraft, but an accessory for the cockpit of a kit you already own.
The Harrier is a British single-engine attack aircraft capable of vertical and short takeoff thanks to an engine with swiveling exhaust nozzles. The GR.1 and GR.3 versions served with the Royal Air Force on ground support and reconnaissance. The pilot's seat was an ejection seat, and on a model with the canopy open the harness is one of the most closely watched details — plastic or merely painted belts always look coarse.
Etched steel sheet holds its shape better than brass, so the belts can be bent convincingly and left hanging loose over the edge of the seat or across the cockpit floor. Separate the parts with a scalpel on a hard surface, shape them around the round handle of a brush and glue them with a tiny drop of cyanoacrylate. If the belts come pre-painted, do not spray them over with an opaque color — it is enough to bring out the stitching with a dark wash and seal the whole with matte varnish. The belts are among the first parts a viewer sees in an open cockpit, so it pays to give them time.
This is not a model kit, but an add-on set. The base model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
