The Messerschmitt Bf 108 Taifun is a four-seat all-metal low-wing monoplane from the mid-1930s. It was created as a fast touring and liaison aircraft with retractable landing gear, slotted flaps and automatic leading-edge slots; the same design line then continued with the Bf 109 fighter. Wire-spoked wheels belong to the period look of light aircraft of the 1930s, and on a model they are one of the places where a coarse part shows at first glance.
Replacement spoked wheels in 1:48 scale, placed in Eduard's LööKplus accessory line. They are ready-made parts to be fitted in place of the wheels from the kit, with more finely rendered spoking and rims. Before fitting them, compare the diameter of the wheel with the part that is in the kit and with the instructions for the model.
If the parts are not polystyrene, ordinary liquid cement for plastic will not hold on them. Use cyanoacrylate glue and apply it in a tiny amount so that the drop does not flood the gaps between the spokes. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the rest carefully so that you do not spoil the circumference of the rim. Wash and degrease the wheels before painting. The spoking stands out if you give the spokes a metal shade, the tire a matte dark gray tone and bring out the gaps between the spokes with a dark wash. If you are going to mask the tire, apply the mask to the wheel before spraying.
For modelers who are bothered by the simplified shape of the wheels on the Bf 108 and want the spoking to read even once it is painted. The model itself, the paints and the glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
