Omask 1:48 Bf 109 G-2 is a set of self-adhesive masks for painting a model of the German Messerschmitt Bf 109 G-2 fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of masks is not a model nor a decal, but an aid for painting. You stick the cut self-adhesive parts onto the model, spray over them with paint, and once they are removed the original shade stays under them with a sharp, precisely shaped edge. The result shows at once: the paint lies in the same layer as the surface around it, and nowhere can you see the thickness of a film or the glossy rim that often shows through with decals. The set is worked out for the Bf 109 G-2 version in 1:48 scale.
A decal is always an extra layer. On an uneven surface or over an engraved line it wrinkles, after drying it shows through with a silvery rim and it is easily damaged by later weathering. A sprayed area has none of that; it survives sandpaper, clear coating and a pass with pigment. On top of that a shade can be laid under it that a decal can never imitate, for instance an oversprayed base showing through from under the top color.
Lift the mask off the backing film with sharp tweezers or the tip of a scalpel, so that you do not stretch it. The base has to be smooth, clean and free of grease. Once it is stuck down, press the whole perimeter with a toothpick, especially on the curves, where the material springs back. Spray the paint in several very thin layers perpendicular to the surface, not at an angle under the edge; that is the most common cause of bleeding. Remove the mask while the paint has only set, not after it has fully cured. Remove the adhesive residue with alcohol on a cotton swab.
The set contains masks. The model, paints and an airbrush are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
