1:48 Bf-109E-1/E-3/E-4/E-7 undercarriage wheel bay paint mask Wingsy kits - masking pieces for the main wheel bays of the German Emil series fighter.
Responsibility details are not available.
The cut masking pieces follow the outline of the bays into which the main wheels of the Emil fold. The set is cut for the Wingsy Kits kit, which sets it apart from an otherwise identically named set prepared for another maker's plastic.
The Messerschmitt Bf 109E was powered by the inverted V12 Daimler-Benz 601 engine with direct fuel injection, which, unlike its carburetted opponents, did not cut out under negative g. The E-1 carried four machine guns, the E-3 and E-4 added cannons in the wing, and the E-7 got a rack under the fuselage for a drop tank or a bomb. It was these machines that formed the core of the fighter wings over the English Channel in 1940.
The inner surfaces of the wing cutouts on German machines of that period are usually treated differently from the underside, so it makes sense to begin with them. Let the shade dry thoroughly before you close the area off, otherwise it may take an imprint. Smooth the edges down with a blunt toothpick and lay the paint on in several mists rather than all at once. If a faint shadow is left anywhere after removal, run a dry brush along the edge.
