1:48 Bf 109E-7: stencils for spraying the national insignia. Sprayed markings lie in the paint, make no step and do not carry across riveting the way a decal does.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of stencils for spraying the national insignia on the Bf 109 E-7 in 1:48 scale. The insignia is created directly in the finish, so it leaves no carrier film behind, it does not shine under a matte clear coat and no visible outline is left of the kind that even the best softener gives away with decals.
German insignia have a hard geometry with sharp corners and straight edges. Carrying a shape like that across riveting, panel seams and the transition to the wing root with a decal is difficult: the film either lifts in a recess or cracks. The Emil also carries them over large areas on the sides of the fuselage and on the wing, so any flaw shows at once. Machines used over the Channel also added conspicuous recognition markings on the engine cowling and the fin, which were commonly sprayed rather than applied.
The surface has to be smooth and preferably lightly clear coated, so that the stencil seats all round. For a light color over dark camouflage, spray a covering base first. Always seal the edge with a light pass of the base shade; a thin coat of paint then seals the edge and the next spraying no longer creeps under it. Build the coats up gradually and let them set between passes.
