This is a set of pre-colored photo-etched steel seat belts intended for Messerschmitt Bf 109G models in 1:48 scale. It is not a kit or a model in its own right but a detail accessory that replaces the plastic or paper belts in the cockpit with a faithful metal substitute. The steel base is markedly more pliable than traditional brass, so the belts can be shaped into a realistic sag over the seat and along its sides.
The Bf 109G, nicknamed the Gustav, was the most produced version of the German Bf 109 fighter of the Second World War. It was powered by the Daimler-Benz DB 605 engine and served on every front from 1942. The pilot was strapped into the cockpit by a system of shoulder and lap straps with a central buckle, whose appearance this set reproduces faithfully.
The parts are already printed in color, so there is no painting to do. Carefully snip the individual straps out of the fret, remove the connecting tabs and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The steel bends readily with your fingers or tweezers into the shape you want; for fine tuning you can use non-acidic paints for small scuffs and a patina on the buckle.
The accessory does not contain the model, glue or paints. It serves only to detail the cockpit.
