This item is not a kit but an accessory for a model. It is a set of color three-dimensional decals of the SPACE range from the Czech maker Eduard, intended for the Messerschmitt Bf 110C in 1:48 scale. The items are printed on decal film and are lifted off the moistened backing paper with tweezers. Thanks to the layered printing, though, they have noticeable relief, so the instrument panel, the labels and the cockpit side walls look three-dimensional rather than like a flat print.
The Bf 110 has a long glazed cabin for two or three crew, and the interior is visible under it along its whole length. Painting all the instruments and labels by brush is a long job with an uncertain result in 1:48 scale, because the individual dials measure tenths of a millimeter. Three-dimensional decals replace it and give readable detail even where a brush hardly reaches.
Spray the surface under an item with a base shade and let it cure thoroughly; it has to be smooth, clean and degreased. Moisten only the backing paper with a sponge and a drop of detergent, lift the item off with tweezers and seat it in place. It is fixed with white PVA glue; the manufacturer does not recommend super glue, and a decal softener must not be used: its chemistry attacks the printed resin and ruins the item. Once dry, go over the surface with matte or semi-matte varnish, depending on how the interior is to look. Apply the set before the fuselage is closed, because in a finished cabin you cannot reach the side walls.
The Messerschmitt Bf 110C was a German twin-engine heavy fighter with the crew in a tandem glazed cabin. It was powered by two liquid-cooled inverted V12 engines, and it differed from the later night fighter versions in its clean nose without radar aerials and in simpler equipment. It was precisely the C version that made up the bulk of production in the early period of the type's service.
