Pre-cut self-adhesive masks for a Bf 110G-4 model in 1:48 scale, in the version for the kit of the Weekend edition.
Responsibility details are not available.
The glazing of the Bf 110G-4 is made up of many small panes separated by narrow frames, and masking them with tape cut by hand means several hours of work after which one frame still comes out crooked. Pre-cut masks shorten that step to minutes: every part already has the shape of a particular pane, so it is enough to lift it off the sheet and lay it in place. The edge of the mask is straight, so the boundary of the paint on the frame comes out sharp as well.
The masks are cut for a particular kit in 1:48 scale, and the qualifier Weekend in the name refers to the edition they match. They may therefore not fit a model of different origin. The extent of the set, that is whether it contains masks for the wheels besides the glazing, is given in the manufacturer's instructions. The subject is the night fighter version Bf 110G-4, a twin-engine machine with DB 605 inverted V12 engines.
Wash and degrease the glazing before masking so that the mask holds. Lift the parts off the sheet with pointed tweezers or a toothpick and press them down over their whole area, especially in the corners. Apply the masks before spraying and lay the paint down in thin coats, because a heavy coat will creep under the edge. Take the mask off as soon as the paint has set, pulling at an angle away from the edge. After a long drying time the masks hold more firmly and tear the coat. Wipe any adhesive residue off the glazing carefully while it is still fresh.
A sheet of masks is supplied in the extent given by the manufacturer. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
