1:48 Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress US national insignia rounded: Eduard templates for spraying the early round American national insignia onto the Flying Fortress.
Responsibility details are not available.
Eduard templates for spraying the American national insignia onto a model of the Boeing B-17F Flying Fortress bomber in 1:48 scale. The rounded variant matches the early marking, a white star in a blue circle without the side bars. A sprayed insignia sits even over pronounced panel lines and riveting, there is no risk of silvering over the base, and the surface of the whole model reads as one piece, which on a four-engine machine this size really shows. Variants of the insignia with a red or blue surround are covered by separate sets, so choose according to the particular machine and the period you want to portray.
The B-17F was the peak version of the Flying Fortress before the arrival of the G version with its chin turret. It was machines of the F version that carried the main weight of the daylight raids of the American Eighth Air Force over occupied Europe in 1942 and 1943, when crews often had to fight their way to the target without fighter escort. Round insignia without bars belong to this early and dramatic period of the type's service, so they suit machines from the first big missions perfectly.
Sprayed markings have no edge of carrier film, they hold the color tone of the rest of the camouflage and they can be weathered locally just like the surrounding areas. On the large surfaces of a bomber the result is markedly more convincing than a decal.
